The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety or IIHS announced its safety awards for 2020, with Subaru taking nine of the annual accolades. Subaru is tied with one other brand for IIHS awards received in 2020.

The IIHS grants awards to automobile manufacturers in two categories. These are the Top Safety Pick and the Top Safety Pick+ categories. The Top Safety Pick awardees are those vehicles that receive high ratings from the IIHS. The Top Safety Pick+ awards go to vehicles that are deemed superior in regard to safety.

The Subaru models that received the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award for 2020 are Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, Subaru Forester, Subaru Legacy, and Subaru Outback. The 2020 Subaru models that received the Top Safety Pick award are Subaru Ascent, Subaru Crosstrek, Subaru Impreza, and Subaru WRX.

In 2020, the IIHA safety awards program particularly focused on safety features and options designed to protect pedestrians all over Watertown, WI and beyond.

The Subaru models that received an IIHS award are all equipped with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology. This feature comes complete with automatic emergency braking. The EyeSight Driver Assist Technology aids in preventing vehicle-pedestrian accidents.

The IIHS focuses its efforts on highway safety and motor vehicle safety. The IIHS is dedicated to providing a range of services that include education, research, testing, research, consumer informational brochures, and vehicle ratings.
