Subaru is a company known for its environmental stewardship. But are they so environmental they have something to teach environmentalists? Apparently so, as they team up with the National Parks Conservation Association to make three major national parks landfill-free.

In 2004, Subaru became the first manufacturer in the United States to achieve zero-landfill status. That means that when your Impreza is made, or your Outback rolls off the production line, no waste was generated that goes to a landfill. Anything left over from the process gets recycled.

National Parks have not been so quick to keep up with this waste-free trend. Park visitors generate over 100 million pounds of trash every year. It's a complicated system, with guests needing amenities, and bringing in their own trash to throw out. Every candy bar wrapper and bottled water adds up over time.

The production line of a factory is a complicated system too, and everyone involved in this partnership believes Subaru can help make a difference. So, visit your local dealership, Don Miller Subaru East, and take a test drive in a new Subaru.
