An Award-Winning Initiative
As a result of their work, both Subaru of America and the National Parks Association have been awarded the 2020 Silver Halo Award in the "Best Sustainability Initiative" category by Engage for Good. The initiative has kept more than 16 million pounds of waste out of landfills by implementing programs in the Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Denali parks.
These programs are a coordinated community effort, identifying the most prominent waste items that appear in these parks and implementing improved waste handling practices. These efforts have been felt immediately, as Yosemite, Grand Teton, and Denali have all nearly doubled their recycling and composting abilities.
