Recently, Subaru in-concert with its motorsport subsidiary exhibited a new line of performance models at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022. With an eye towards carbon-neutral efficiency, both Subaru and Subaru Tecnica International (STI) have teamed up to offer a glimpse into the future.
For Subaru enthusiasts, the STI Performance concept incorporates Subaru BRZ and WRX models equipped with STI Performance parts. And in this effort, these Subaru models will offer sportier features and further enjoyment in the drive.

Subaru BRZ
The Subaru/STI booth at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2022 featured the Subaru BRZ coupe fitted with STI Performance parts and badging. The grounding of this new concept is enshrined in those traits and attributes finding favor with local, Sun Prairie enthusiasts of Subaru performance models.
By using Subaru BRZ as the stepping off point, STI Performance parts build upon the following BRZ details:
- The 2.4L, Subaru BOXER engine delivers 228 hp via direct-injection.
- Suspension has been track-tested and retuned as a result.
- The six-speed automatic transmission is mated to paddle-shifters for added punch.
Subaru WRX
Prominently featured in Tokyo, the Subaru WRX sedan displayed the WRX S4 STI Performance package. This new concept accentuates the following Subaru WRX specifications already found near Watertown at Don Miller Subaru East:
- The Subaru BOXER engine provides 268 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of generated torque.
- Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive enables smooth handling and gripping power.
- Sport Lineartronic® Transmission comes with six- or eight-speed manual shifting modes.
